I was born on October ninth, 2003 in Edmonton Alberta. For a large majority of my life I have had an interest in politics and science. But as I got older, more knowledgeable, I began to loose my optimism. As the sorry state of affairs came to the public attention, mainly global warming, I began to feel frustration towards past generations for leaving the world in such a mess. I am growing up in a dying world, Many species will die, the climate we love and the natural phenomena we treasure will be wiped off the map. The polar ice caps will melt, ocean levels will rise, And all of it could be prevented if we put the politics and budgets aside. Personally, I am terrified. I have always wanted kids, but should I? I never asked to be brought into this mess, I never asked to fix what past generations caused. Everyday I wake up, remembering that Andrew Sheer is running Alberta, And I think about how broken everything is. Our politics is driven by money and corruption, our society is divided like never before, ever since the 2019 provincial election, The UCP have implemented budget cuts and policies that have made life difficult for current and future students alike. The price of buss passes has gone from $18 to $60, the interest rate for student loans has gone up 7%, Medical funding has gone down so much that over 2500 nurses have been laid off since 2019. Think about that for a moment, We were already short on nurses to begin with. Prior to the 2019 provincial election I had talked a lot about how electing Andrew Sheer would be detrimental to Alberta's economy. And yet he, even with all of the warnings and past instances of failure he was still elected.
Australia is on FIRE! the Earth is literally on fire and I find it rather comforting knowing that im not the only one suffering!
