Like my other article, this one will be rather...different. Typically, I like to stick to science based articles on stuff that matters (Sometimes). But I have decided to turn my school writing projects into articles. So, as the title suggests, I will be exploring whether or not Loki is a hero or an anti-hero.
Loki, contrary to what the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) would have you believe, is not actually Thor's brother, rather, Loki's siblings are Helblindi and Angrbooa (According to Icelandic Mythology) His parents are Farbauti and Laufey.
In the Norse Mythos, Loki is depicted as being a troublemaker or trickster, causing death as well as frustration for the people of the mythological realm of Asgard. But that isn't what we are here to discuss is it? NO, that's a trick question. Sorry, got a bit off topic there (Not to mention out of character).
"you’ll have noticed his role in nearly all of them throughout this series — he’s never the hero. He’s simply a sideshow — either a foe or a friend, helping or hurting or instigating from the sidelines." Says Jeremy Anderberg, Author of Viking Mythology: What a Man Can Learn From Loki (About Unmanliness) Further more, Loki is birthed from an ice giant (Being of the Realm of the dead) and an unknown being. He gave birth to Hel (Goddess of Death) and a giant snake. This might just be bias but if it is made by evil, and creates evil, the it is evil.
I don't want anyone to think that I am trying tell you what to think because im not. I am simply giving the tools and knowledge for you wonderful people to make an educated decision for yourselves.
That being said, time for my conclusion, drum roll please (:Insert Drum Noises Here:) Loki is (in my opinion) an anti-hero. I think this because he has done both good and bad things throughout his life. Loki is cunning, smart, and definitely not trustworthy nor is he worthy of trust.
