KIVA, Getting lives started $25 at a time

(Disclaimer, This article is going to be a bit different, this is because it is a school project that I decided to turn into an article. Bare with me as I tell you about the Organization called KIVA.)

KIVA (Not an acronym apparently) is an organization that allows you to loan money to people in 3rd world countries through $25 increments. Surprisingly, KIVA has a 97% return rate with women being more likely to pay back said loan then men (Wasn't trying to be sexist).

Funded in San Francisco on October of 2005 by Co-founders Premal Shah and Jessica Jackley, KIVA Balances dreams and opportunity by allowing its users to loan money to people in 3rd world countries. While $25 does not sound like much, it can be life changing. KIVA serves people world wide (over 80 countries).

KIVA.org has Bio´s on all people whom one may want to give loans to, this includes photos, reasons, and life story. This information makes choosing who you want to loan to easier and allows for an educated decision.

KIVA is a great choice because unlike many other ´charities´ KIVA gives all loaned money to the intended recipient rather then taking a small amount for themselves. KIVA also has a return rate of 97% as well as directed Loaning. KIVA also prevents scams by visiting those who are asking for the loans and verifying there story, this means that if you see someone on KIVA asking for money you know they are honest.
