A second person has been cured of HIV, The first being the so called "Berlin Patient"
After a bone marrow transplant from a donor with the rare genetic mutation of the CCR5 gene, A London man has been cleared of the virus. “Although it is not a viable large-scale strategy for a cure … these new findings reaffirm our belief that there exists a proof of concept that HIV is curable,” Says Anton Pozniak, the president of the International Aids Society in an interview with reporters.
HIV or Human Immunodeficiency Virus works by spreading through certain fluids in the body and targeting the CD4 cell also called a T-Cell. And up until recently, there existed no cure. ART or antiretroviral therapy is used to treat HIV, though it does not Kill or Cure the virus, it does however slow the multiplication of the HIV Cells.
While it might be a cure for HIV, it isn't a practical one. This just goes to show that new cures, innovations, and futures are made all the time and that you should never give up hope.
